Hyundai Avante (Elantra) interior

Korean-spec Hyundai Avante interior gives sneak peek inside 2011 Elantra — AutoMK - Economy -
Even though we have yet to see official images of the U.S.-spec 2011 Hyundai Elantra, we have a pretty good idea of what will be heading our way in the coming months. Hyundai debuted the new Avante sedan (the Elantra's Korean market equivalent) at the Busan Motor Show this past April, and now the first interior snapshot of the Avante has been leaked out.

If you've been in the new 2011 Sonata, you know that the family sedan's cabin is a giant leap forward in the right direction. The center stack is awash with curves and angles that pay homage to the automaker's new "fluidic sculpture" exterior design. And styling aside, we're willing to bet that Hyundai hasn't skimped out on high-quality materials for the less-expensive Elantra's innards, either.

This more attractive, better-tailored interior will do well when matched with the swoopier lines of the new Elantra's exterior. That – combined with Hyundai's new 138-horsepower, 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder – will mean that other new cars in the budget sedan segment (this means you, Ford Focus and Chevrolet Cruze) will need to watch their backs. If the new Elantra is being positioned as a baby Sonata, the competition should indeed be stiff. Top tip, Monkaroo!

Cosworth Impreza STI CS400

Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 – Click above for image gallery

This is the Cosworth Impreza STI CS400, the car Cosworth said would "humble" supercars. With a 0-to-62 sprint happening in just 3.7 seconds it'll be quicker than a whole bunch of exotics, and at £49,995 ($71,368 U.S.), it'll be a whole lot cheaper as well. If that sounds like a boatload of cash for a warmed-over WRX, well, it is. But bear in mind that thanks to factors like the 17.5 percent Value Added Tax, UK pricing is rather different than what pricing in the States would likely look like were Cosworth to sell the CS400 here.

The 395-horsepower, 398-pound-foot Cossie Scooby benefits from a thorough rework of its boxer-engined details, boasting new pistons, con-rods, turbocharger, exhaust and ECU mapping among its many modifications. Aiding the Impreza's all-wheel drive get power to the ground is a lowered suspension with components from Bilstein and Eibach.

Looks-wise, a different front bumper fitted with mesh inserts, a rear spoiler, a track widened by 12 millimeters, and 18-inch alloys over bigger AP brakes will make sure Subaru cognescenti don't confuse you with anything else. Identification will also be made easier by the fact that there will only be 75 made for the UK market only, and available it'll be available in red, silver, and dark gray. Thanks to everyone for the tips!

Is Citroen's Newest Concept GT a Car for a GQ Man?

Hot damn. Is it just me, or have recent Citroën concepts been some of the most show-worthy designer cars in a while? GTbyCitroën, definitely stunning. The Survolt, really fun to look at and reminisce about Ridge Racer or Cruis'n World. I even like the REVOLTe in a weird, this-isn't-right kind of way. And the next looker is just around the bend.

Called the GQbyCitroën, it's one of the best-looking GTs I've seen in a while - sorry, BMW - and is the result of a project led by GQ UK editor Dylan Jones.

The car's exterior was penned by Citroën's Mark Lloyd of DS3 fame (and his design team, naturally) while the interior is by Patrick Grant. Grant happens to be creative director at E. Tautz, a Savile Row tailor and the store where I purchase my linens.

According to Lloyd, "Where this car works so well with GQ is that it fits with the current attitudes of conspicuous consumption. It is understated rather than in-your-face, sleek rather than macho."

As for the claimed numbers, they're impressive. With a direct-injected 1.6 liter gas/electric hybrid power train, it's said to hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds while being limited to a top speed of 250km/h or 155mph. Emissions are at 80g/km.

If anyone happens to be in London this week for the official launch, get some pictures (Canon 60D, Panasonic point-and-shoot, or celly), and we'll post 'em along with the official shots.
